Panel Sponsorship, Caucus Meeting & Special Event
Dear Colleagues
If you would like your SCMS conference workshop or panel to be considered forsponsorship by the Women’s Caucus, please email cbaron@bgsu.edu with a request.
Chairs of panels or workshops should send their panel/workshop abstract and accompanying paper abstracts as a single attachment tocbaron@bgsu.edu by Monday, January 9, 2017. All members of the panel/workshop must be members of SCMS; preference will be given to panels/workshops whose members belong to the Women’s Caucus. Please put “Conference Sponsorship” in the subject line.
Sponsorship does not bring any financial support, but it does highlight your session in the conference program and its affiliation with scholarship related to the Women’s Caucus. In previous years, each SIG/Caucus has been able to sponsor up to eight sessions.
The Women’s Caucus must notify the SCMS office by Friday, January 13, 2017 about the sessions that have been selected for sponsorship. We will contact the chairs of the sessions submitted for consideration to let them know the outcome.
Please join us for our Caucus Meeting on Friday, March 24 from 12:15 to 2:00. Shelley Stamp will be presenting the Graduate Student Writing Award, and there will be an informal panel on “the Women’s Caucus: Past, Present, and Future” with remarks by Christine Holmlund, Mary Celeste Kearney, Jennifer Moorman, Janet Walker, and Alyxandra Vesey.
Also, please be sure to join us for the special event we are hosting on Wednesday, March 22 at 7:00 pm: Screening and Q & A:Living Thinkers: An Autobiography of Black Women in the Ivory Tower, with filmmaker Roxana Walker-Canton and other panelists
Best wishes for holidays. We look forward to seeing everyone at the conference in March.
Cynthia Baron, Shelleen Greene, Stefania Marghitu, and Karen Ritzenhoff
